Slowing down when chaos ensued

It's Monday, March 23rd, 2020 and Washington States' governor Inslee has issued a stay at home order as an unknow virus quickly spreads across the globe. As the world around us was shutting down, our home became our sanctuary. At the time it felt very isolating, however, it was a time I will always cherish with my family as we made the best of memories. We were allotted time to slow down and truly enjoy each other. We began gardening, stayed in pajamas all day, had lots of nerf wars, schooled from home, and got creative with what we could do being "stuck at home". I started documenting our family as the order to stay in place went from a week, to two weeks, and was then extended to what seemed like forever.

Neighborhood greeter.

Our home has a large window overseeing the neighborhood which my youngest at the time, Brayden, spent lots of time at watching for any signs of life on the outside. Being stuck inside all day everyday while your a mere three years old is tough work but he made due with his new role as the neighborhood greeter (as we referred to him as).

A virtual birthday

In the height of Washington States' stay at home order, Brayden celebrated his fourth birthday with friends and family all via zoom (a new app that streamlined how we were able to work from our homes),

Love & Laughter

What seemed like this never-ending dreadful place of doom during the lockdown, in our children's eyes, this may have been the highlight of their childhoods. We had an opportunity to slow down so much so that our calendars were left blank for any foreseeable future and allotted us the most quality time together that we have ever experienced, and for that, I will be forever grateful.
